The event is due to take place on June 17 at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

The presentation of the life jackets took place at the Pigeon Point beach with a number of dignitaries in attendance, including Hazel Douglas, Digicel’s country manager; Huey Cadette, assistant secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA); Garvin Madera, chief technical officer of Digicel; Roberta Julien, captain of the Port Authority team; Theophilus Trim, interim president, Tobago Dragon Boat Association; and Kirsten Des Vignes, executive member of the Tobago Dragon Boat Association.

In a media release, Digicel stated its honour “to be part of the second Regatta to be held in Tobago and sees it as an opportunity to assist in the development of sport, culture and the youth of Tobago.

“Sports tourism has been identified as an area of growth in Tobago and Digicel are happy to be part of the initiatives, especially as they involve the youth.

“The Regatta promises to be an extraordinary day, full of fun, rivalry, excitement and energy attended by well-trained participants and eager supporters from home and abroad,” the release ended.
