Real Dimension completes 2012 season clean sweep

Real Dimension have been unstoppable since their opening-day defeat to Tobago Women’s team in May. Last Sunday at Guaracara Park, they closed off their impressive season with a 2-0 win over their perennial rivals Trincity Nationals. Alania Burgin once again was in the thick of the action as she netted a brace with both goals coming in the 9th and 58th minute. The Big Four competition which was sponsored by Trinidad and Tobago U-17 women’s coach Even Pellerud, came to an exciting finale.
The rain and mud did not reign in the league and FA Cup Champions, but it did take away from a quality final in hindsight. Trincity fielded two of the youngest players in the league Adanya Phillip and Cherissa Delzin, as they were unable to show up with their strongest lineup. The Shenelle and Jonelle Warrick tandem were unable to breach the blue fortress despite their best combined efforts. Camille Borneo and Rhea Belgrave had an excellent match for Dimension however.
In the earlier fixture St. Augustine SC played South Zone Champions Pt. Fortin Pioneers in an friendly match as Step by Step were disqualified from the competition after failing to show up for their fixture against Trinicity Nationals on Friday evening at the same venue.
Pellerud, also technical director of Women’s Football congratulated the winners during the medal presentation after the final. He greeted the participating teams and then presented them with their medals and the Even Pellerud Challenge Trophy. Also recognised by the Norwegian for their efforts were the organisers for the League and the part they played in a very successful 2012 WoLF season. Rhea Belgrave was nominated as the player of the game. Next season has a tough act to follow.
