MANAGER Buxo Potts wants Sheldon Lawrence to “bring out the dog” when he meets fellow T&T boxer Nigel Edwards for the WBC Fecabox super-middleweight title tonight at Daisy Voisin hub, opposite Irwin Park, Siparia.
Lawrence, 29, has eight wins and just one controversial loss—suffered in Jamaica—while Edwards, eight years older, is unbeaten in 10 bouts but has not fought in two years.
The fight is the main feature of a nine-bout card which also contains two mixed martial arts bouts and a Trinidad and Tobago versus Venezuela amateur boxing card. Gates open at six and tickets are priced at $100 for general admission and $150 for a ring-side view.
Edwards is known as “Cow” but fans can expect him to be a bull in the ring tonight. He knows only one way to fight, always charging forward and applying pressure.
“Even if he (Edwards) is hurt, I don’t think he will stay off,” Lawrence’s flamboyant manager Potts declared. “He doesn’t know anything else but to come forward. But, it makes for a good fight when a brawler meets a boxer. He is going to come. He’s going to brawl. We are going to box and pick our shots. We are going to take him apart.”
