Fierce competition kicked off at McKenzie Archery Range in Chaguaramas last Sunday. Over 50 archers gathered from across  the country to compete for the top ranked positions in their categories.

 

(FYI : the archery ranking event awards ranking points to each archer base on their score out of the maximum score of 720 after shooting 72 arrows. The goal of an archer is to hit a gold ring in the center of the target for ten point on every shot. The top ranked archers of 2017 are selected for the 2018 national team to represent T&T in regional and international events.)

 

New National Records:

 

1) Shemariah Ali broke broke two of her previous national records of 566 posting 579 and 294 for 36 arrows which was previously 287. (contact info: 791-9117)

 

2) Priyanka Dhanie broke her own national record of 653 which she set at the last NRT on 21st May, POSTING 659. (contact info: 724-8239)

 

3) Daniel Catariz Ragbir just edge his own national record of 321 which he set at the last NRT posting 322 in a single 36 arrow round. He showed great consistency finishing with 631 after 72 arrows which was 1 point shy of his national record (632). (contact info: 499-4631)

 

4) Both Adrian St. Rose 586 and Aidan Ogir 591 broke the previous national record of 533. However Aidan Ojir retains the record with his 591.

This was the third National ranking tournament for 2017 with one more to go; And there is no better conclusion to the ranking events than the National Outdoor Championships in August which promise to be exciting with more national records destined to fall.
