North East Stars Football Club which won the 2017 Pro League competition and did not get any prize money for winning had a late start to their 2018 Youth Pro League campaign.

Because of machinations with some of the coaches which resulted in late registrations of the U14 and U16 players, the U18 team had its first test against Club Sando at the Larry Gomes Stadium on Sunday last from 4 p.m.

Despite not being registered the U14 and U16 teams were able to play “unofficial games” earlier on the day.

In the U18 game, a scrappy affair in the first half produced a 34th minute goal by Keon Boney for the Stars, but Club Sando pushed with all that they might to equalize in the 90th minute from a Daniel Luke shot in the 20 yard box.

Despite some heroic saves by the Stars custodian, Emmanuel Clarke, who hails from San Juan North Secondary, minutes before the equalizer, the youths from North East seemed to be a disorganized bunch and Coach Kevin Jeffrey will have a lot of work to do with his charges if they are to improve.

North East Stars Starting Line up:

Emmanuel Clarke (gk), Zidane Liverpool, Tyreke Agard, Elisha Garcia, Travis Byron, Sherwin Williams, Isaiah Pascall, John Paul Rochford (Capt), Malik Mieres, Keon Boney, Jonathan Glouden.

Reserves: Ricardo Jadoonanan (gk), Kaylan Seales, Ackeem Mason, Jevone Donald, Rondell Joseph, Jalani Augustus, Tyresse Batson, Arron Perouse.
