CHARLOTTEVILLE, Tobago: (Thursday, May, 4): Surf N Turf is ahead on points in the International Division at the end of the first day of the 22nd annual Tobago International Billfish Tournament on Wednesday (May 3). The Barry Singh George-captained crew amassed 3100 points following a haul of six blue marlin fishes on the opening day of action.  The team, which includes Tane Herbert, Graeme Stephens, Sean McLean, Emily Riemer and Jack Vasilarous, is ahead of Hop-Scotch (2600 points) which caught four blue marlin and two sail fishes. Queen Bee is in third (2350 points-four blue marlin, one sail fish) with Knot Easy in fourth (2100 points) with Fun Now (1850), Hard Play 2 (1600-three blue marlins), Team Emmanuel (1350-two blue marlins, one sail fish) and Pair-a-Dice (1100-two blue marlins, one wahoo) following behind. Lead Us Knot (one blue marlin), Magic Lady (one blue marlin) and Remember Me Now (one blue marlin) all earned 600 points. Black Child 2 is at 12th with 100 points.

In the local category,  Deadliest Catch gave the home fans much to cheer about as the Jacobson Jack captain pirogue is ahead with 200 with his two catches.

 

Seventy-seven (77) onboard 20 vessels are competing for top honours. Twelve boats are entered in the International Division with entries from Tobago, Trinidad, Grenada and Barbados. The tournament runs until Saturday. Party Time won the 2016 edition of the tournament.

 

The members of the organising committee are Gerard De Silva, Hollis Walker, David Maharaj, Shannon Walker, Divid Wong, Keishon Walker, and Daniella Rodriguez.
