A group of teenagers from Trinidad and Tobago is in Lille, France, representing T&T at the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) 2016.
The delegation includes Sophia Mohammed, 15, and Clintia Simon, 17, both of Naparima Girls’ High School; Christopher Thomas, 16, of St Mary’s College, Daniel Henriques, 17, of Fatima College, and Amanda Khan, 13, and Jessika Emrith, 12, of St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph.
The competition began on Saturday and continues until today.
According to the competition’s website <www.youthscrabble.org> the event takes place every year in a different part of the world.
“WYSC is open to players under the age of 18 at the end of the year. It not only gives players the opportunity to show their Scrabble skills but it is a great way of making friends with others from varied cultures,” the website stated.
“It is a great experience meeting others from around the world and matching our Scrabble skills against theirs,” said Mohammed.
