Courts Morvant-Caledonia United scored a first-ever win in front of home supporters after three attempts and took a big scalp as well — defending Pro League and Caribbean champions Central FC — who were unbeaten in all competitions.

There was probably the biggest turnout of the season to see the Morvant team triumph 3-2 on penalty kicks, following a 0-0 regulation time draw. The result in Sunday’s 2016 First Citizens Cup quarter-final means Morvant-Caledonia meet in a rematch against Defence Force on November 22.

“It’s a tremendous joy to reward the people of Morvant,” Morvant Caledonia United head coach Rajesh Latchoo told www.ttproleague.com.

“In the game before when we scored [at the death] to draw 1-1 with Defence Force in the league [on November 6], we saw the reaction of the people. They were jumping together, the rastas were hugging baldheads and the Indo-Trinidadians and afro-Trinidadians were celebrating together.
