Jason Marcano, Darren Mitchell and Kishun Seecharan all found the back of the net as two-time defending champions Central FC rebounded from last weekend’s defeat at Ma Pau Stars to hammer Police FC 3-0 in the Digicel Pro League football competition on Wednesday afternoon at the Larry Gomes stadium, Arima.

Central (35 points), who have a game in hand against Defence Force, moved to within two points of current leaders W Connection (37 points), with just three regular games left in the 2016-17 league campaign.

The Couva Sharks grabbed the lead against Police through attacker Marcano, who headed past Police goalkeeper Adrian Foncette in the 10th minute, and coach Dale Saunders was even more comfortable when his team got a 2-0 cushion on the stroke of half-time, when Mitchell hit into the far bottom corner of goalkeeper Foncette’s net, following initial good work by right-back Jem Gordon. And Seecharan completed a close range tap-in for 3-0 three minutes after the break, from a cross by winger Rundell Winchester.

The Pro League continues today when third-placed San Juan Jabloteh (26 points) – who were virtually knocked out of the race for a top-two finish by bottom-of-the-table Civic on Tuesday—meet St. Ann’s Rangers in the first game of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium. Ma Pau Stars face Defence Force in the second match, while at the Hasely Crawford stadium, W Connection face Morvant–Caledonia United. Meanwhile, Police return to action on Sunday against sixth-placed Club Sando at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
