The School Girls Rugby League resumed last Wednesday as the carnival break only served to increase the eagerness of the teams as all 3 matches in week 6 were high scoring affairs at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Now, with one round of matches left Bishop Anstey B team is firmly in charge of an automatic semi final spot. They were up against Holy Name Convent A in the latest round, who provided little resistance to end up on the wrong side of a 22-0 scoreline. Keryce Baptiste led the way for Bishop’s B, taking the ball over for three tries while Arissa Romany scored one and kicked 2 successful conversions. With that result Bishop’s B are onto a perfect 20 points from their 5 matches.

St James Secondary School aren’t giving up on the number one spot themselves however and remained within 3 points of the leaders with a lopsided victory of their own. Coincidentally that 24-0 win came against the team previously ranked second, Providence Girls Catholic School. Pateia Paul led all scoring with 3 tries while Tahira Abdul scored one.

The highest scoring match was Bishop Anstey A’s 32-nil masterclass over Holy Name B. With two tries each from Felicia Waterman and Dejeanne Serville and the one each from Annalee Lucess and Imanuel Francis, Bishop’s A were always in charge. Gianni Roberts extra points sealed a huge victory that pushed them into the 4th automatic semi final position with one round of matches remaining.

The 2017 league will conclude with this week’s fixtures on Wednesday March 15th.
