St James Secondary, Providence Girls Catholic School and Bishop Anstey’s A and B squads are moving onto the semi finals of the year’s School Girls Rugby League competition.
The four teams will have an extra week’s preparation however, to accommodate the goodwill visit of Canadian team Yeti Rugby Club who will use the League’s regular venue at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
In the final round of preliminary matches on Wednesday March 15th, St James Secondary usurped Bishop’s B for the lead in the standings after scoring a 17-5 win on the Bishop’s girls who were unbeaten in the competition before that final fixture.
Keryce Baptiste continued to be a source of goals for Bishop’s B but her single try was wiped away by Pateia Paul’s 2 for St James while Jade Husbands scored one conversion. Both teams finished with 5 wins and 1 defeat from 6 matches in regular league play but while they ended tied on 21 points, St James boasts a superior goal differential.
Bishop’s A team came in third with 18 points from 6 matches after shutting out Holy Name Convent 20-nil on Wednesday. Imanuel Francis scored 3 tries and Maya Ours scored the other.
Providence Girls who were on a bye on the final day round off the top 4 with 15 points.
Bishop’s Centenary College missed out despite a 15-0 win over Holy Name B as they could only muster 12 points in league play.
