Ladies golf will be in the spotlight on the local golf calendar this coming weekend, as the Ladies 2 day Invitational tournament, sponsored by Agostini Insurance Brokers Limited (AIB), will be played at the St Andrews Golf Club after a hiatus in 2018.  This means that Christina Ferreira, who has been away in North America studying, has the chance to defend the title she won in 2017. She will come up against Yeji Lee who has made great strides in the last 2 years, sweeping the titles on offer so far this year. YeJi won both the BC Open and the Nestle Svelty Open and recently returned from Barbados, where she won the Optimist Junior tournament there.  Sarah Ramphal who is aging out of the junior ranks, and who made an impressive comeback on the second day in the Nestle Svelty Open two months ago, will also be in the field.

Other players to keep an eye on are the junior Chloe Ajodha who moves up from the C flight to join the more seasoned players in the B flight. Choe won the C flight in 2017 and now looks to add the B flight trophy to her collection. Young Faatimah Emamalie, who will be the youngest player in the field at just 12 years old, will be looking to repeat her performance at the recently concluded RBL Caribbean Junior Open where she won her age group.

AIB has sponsored this tournament for the past 20 years, supporting our female golfers to test their staying power for the longer 2- day competitions. This tournament will count towards rankings for selection of National squads at both the junior and senior levels.  The course at Moka, which recently hosted the TT Pro-Am and Men’s Open, continues to be still hard and fast, despite some sprinkling of rain since the Open.  The golfers will tee off at 10:00a on Saturday with the second 18 holes on Sunday to be followed by the usually convivial prize-giving function later in the afternoon.
