Trinidad and Tobago’s Men’s Beach Soccer team commenced their 2019 CONCACAF Beach soccer World Cup qualifying campaign with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Turks and Caicos Islands in Group B action in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico on Monday.

T&T got two goals from goalkeeper Zane Coker, another double from Kevin Woodley and one each from player/captain Ryan Augustine and Shane Hospedales.

T&T skipper Augustine said there was a positive feeling after the opening win.

“Today we had a very positive performance by the entire team. All the players really did their part and contributed to the overall effort. I think we weren’t the sharpest but we did stick to our game plan which proved to be effective and we are looking forward to the next game. The energy within the team is also pretty good right now given the win and the general confidence we have this time around,” Augustine told TTFA Media.

And Coker, who just like Augustine is a veteran of previous World Cup campaigns, added, “Today’s result was a pleasing one. The vibe of the whole team and the atmosphere is quite good. We went out there, kept our composure and we didn’t let any of our mistakes hamper us. We were able to regroup as a team and continue to push forward.

“We have a mission at hand right now which is to keep on performing, keep on playing and keep on winning. We will regroup as a team and go out there in the next game and look for another victory for Trinidad and Tobago,” Coker said.

T&T takes on US Virgin Islands on Tuesday. The championship acts as the qualification tournament for CONCACAF teams to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay with the top two teams qualifying.
