SGRLTT Week One Update.
Schools Girls Rugby League kicked off its 7th edition on Wednesday 16th January, at the Queens Park Savannah, with three exciting matches on opening day.
The feature match on Game Day 1 saw the defending champions Bishop Centenery College 1 narrowly beat first time participants San Juan North Secondary.
However, judging by the 7-5 score line it was not evident that the Centenery girls were playing newcomers. Thanks to one try from Gabrielle Francis and one successful conversion from Angel Cooper, they edged out the girls from San Juan whose only try came through Deniqua Gordon.
In the first match-up Bishop Anstey High School got their season off to a winning start with an excellent attacking and defensive display that saw them triumph 38-0 over Bishop Centenery College 2. Keryce Baptiste led the scoring with four tries. Immanuel Francis scored one try as well while Arissa Romany scored one try and kicked 4 successful conversions.
In Game Two, Providence Girls’ Catholic took on Tranquility Government Secondary were the girls from Providence came away with a comfortable 21-5 victory with Moesha Smith, Amartis Jawahir and Kyiala Simon all scoring one try two conversions each.
